UAE Ambassador, UN’s Kardel tackle Yemen humanitarian plan
United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Lebanon, Dr. Hamad Saeed Al-Shamsi, met on Tuesday with UN Acting Special Coordinator for Lebanon, PernilleDahlerKardel, with whom he broached the most recent developments on the local and regional levels.
During the meeting, Ambassador Al-Shamsi also touched on the situation in Yemen, most notably the integrated humanitarian plan that is being implemented to ensure easy access of aid, as well as to facilitate the protection of civilians through close coordination between the legitimate forces and international humanitarian organizations.
Al-Shamsi finally capitalized on the support of the efforts of UN Special Envoy, Martin Griffith, and stressed the need for the withdrawal of the Huthi militias from the territories they have illegally occupied, including the port and city of Hodeidah. He deemed this a prerequisite to accelerate the political process in line with UN resolution 2216.
