UNESCO chief visits heritage sites
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization(UNESCO) director-general Audrey Azoulay visited several archaeological sites across Bahrain.
The visits were on the sidelines of the 42nd session of the World Heritage Committee, which opened yesterday under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
The UNESCO director-general toured Bumaher Fort and its vistors' centre, which represents the gateway to the Pearl Trail and stands as a testament to Bahrain's economy.
The UNESCO chief then visited the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH), the Bahrain Fort and its museum.
