Venus, Saturn Conjunction Graces Skies Tonight

Riyadh: The skies of the Arab world will witness a spectacular celestial event tonight as Venus and Saturn appear in close proximity, just 2.17 degrees apart, in a conjunction creating a stunning view visible to the naked eye near the southwestern horizon during the early evening hours.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Jeddah Astronomy Society Director Eng. Majed Abu Zahra explained that the conjunction occurs when celestial bodies appear close to one another in the sky due to their alignment from Earth’s perspective. Despite their apparent proximity, Venus and Saturn are separated by vast distances in space.

For stargazers, dim Saturn and bright Venus will be visible together through binoculars or a telescope. Adding to the scene’s beauty, the crescent moon will appear just a few degrees below the planets, enhancing the visual spectacle.

Abu Zahra highlighted that this conjunction provides an excellent opportunity to engage children in learning about the solar system and appreciate the wonders of astronomy. He assured that the event has no impact on Earth, serving purely as a moment of celestial delight.
