The United States is reportedly brokering a deal to transfer two Red Sea islands from Egypt to Saudi Arabia, according to reports, in what could be the first step towards normalising relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia. Under the current law in Saudi Arabia, Muslim men get the highest blood payments, double the amount given to the families of women victims. Three members of Saudi Arabia’s Shura Council – Latifa Al-Shaalan, Faisal Al-Fadel, and Atta Al-Subaiti – are challenging this, saying the double payments for Muslim men are not stipulated in the Quran and want a draft law, currently being studied by the body, to reflect this. “The proposed amendme… Continue reading “Saudi mulls equal bloody money payout for non-Muslims, women”

Belarus, China, Russia and Venezuela have outspoken critics, but none of these detractors are making a living through bad-mouthing the regimes they despise. For the governments of Israel, Saudi Arabia and a handful of European countries sheltering and resourcing the Iranian opposition, it makes strategic sense to invest in amplifying the collective voices of disillusioned expatriates wh… Continue reading “The Iranian opposition’s peddling of Islamophobia”
