Ftouhi confers with al-Rahi on the Syrian displacement crisis, ways to conduct an accurate survey of their presence

The head of the “Ftouhi Social Foundation”, Fares Ftouhi, met today with Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Bechara Boutros al-Rahi, in Dimane, where they discussed the issue of displaced Syrians and the seriousness of the displacement crisis.

According to a statement by Ftouhi on emerging, he briefed Patriarch al-Rahi on his new project, “which is a platform distributed free of charge to municipalities, allowing them to conduct a quick and accurate survey of Syrians present within their jurisdiction, explaining the importance of this project, especially the part related to reporting violations, encroachments, and crimes, as it is a window for communication between the citizen and the concerned authorities.”

Ftouhi disclosed that “the project will be launched in Keserwan and then in the rest of the Lebanese regions,” considering that “withholding data by UNHCR is not innocent and is considered a prelude to settlement since there is no return without data…for how do we return displaced people whose existence we
do not know about?” he questioned.

For his part, Patriarch al-Rahi stressed “the importance of working in this national direction,” expressing “his support and blessing for the project.”
