Sisi to Blinken: It is time to end the war in Gaza and resort to the voice of reason

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi warned today, Tuesday, of “the danger of expanding the scope of the conflict regionally in a way that is difficult to imagine its consequences.”

During his reception of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in El Alamein City, Sisi stressed, according to a statement by the Egyptian presidency, that “the time has come to end the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, and resort to the voice of reason and wisdom and raise the language of peace and diplomacy.”

He added that “sparing the blood of the peoples should be the main driver for all parties, and that the ceasefire in Gaza should be the beginning of broader international recognition of the Palestinian state and the implementation of the two-state solution, as this is the basic guarantor of stability in the region.”

For his part, Blinken stressed the commitment of the United States of America to the efforts to calm the situation and reach an agreement, expressing great appreciation for Egypt’s role and constructive effort
s in this regard.

According to the Egyptian presidency statement, “the joint Egyptian-American-Qatari mediation efforts to cease fire in Gaza and exchange detainees were reviewed, as views were exchanged on the results of the last negotiating meeting held last week in Doha, and ways to move the situation and achieve progress in the ongoing negotiations in Cairo.”
