55 Visa Cards Prepared For Smuggling Seized

The Shalamcheh Border Port Directorate announced today, Sunday, the seizure of 55 Visa cards prepared for smuggling.

It said in a statement, “The Shalamcheh border crossing arrested two Iraqi and foreign nationals accused red handed while they were exchanging Visa cards at the port’s main gate,” and seized in their possession 55 cards prepared for smuggling.

It added, “A proper arrest report was prepared and the accused were referred to the Shalamcheh Customs Police Station to take legal measures against them.”

Today’s Newspapers Focus On The Results Of PM’s Participation In The UN General Assembly Meetings And His Upcoming Visit To Russia

The newspapers issued today, Sunday, concerned with the results of the participation of Prime Minister Muhammad Al-Sudani in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly and his upcoming visit to Russia.

Al-Zawraa newspaper, which is published by the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, quoted the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani, as confirming that the will for agreement prevailed in the new Iraq and the coalition government succeeded in restoring confidence in the political system.

Al-Sudani said in his speech during his participation in the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly: “I would like to convey to you today the greetings of Iraq and its people, which was among the fifty countries that founded this mighty organization seventy-eight years ago, and who still believes to this day in the general principles that the UN was founded on it and it contributes to all its programs out of its belief that there is no way for us but human brotherhood and solidarity for the sake of the continued safe existence of the entire world.”

He added, “The will for agreement and understanding prevailed in the new Iraq, and we succeeded in overcoming difficult days to give birth to our current government, which has a broad political coalition behind it that includes all Iraqi sects and components.”

He continued, “The government has adopted a comprehensive and ambitious reform program to correct the course, restore confidence in the political system, and provide a decent living for the citizen,” noting that “we have developed a program that carries critical priorities, representing files that cannot be neglected in their implementation and that lie at the core of the needs of our people.”

He pointed out that “these priorities focused on providing job opportunities, achieving a broad renaissance in services, fighting poverty, raising the standard of living, combating corruption, and rooting comprehensive reforms in the economic and administrative aspects and in the financial and banking sector to overcome the weak legacy of previous administrative systems.”

He explained, “We have come an important way in this path within a record period of time, and the investment environment in Iraq has developed to open up to the global economy and fruitful partnerships,” pointing out that “many agreements have been signed in different sectors, and Iraq has become a safe environment that attracts investors to great promising opportunities.”

He added, “Iraq is still an important oil country and a pivotal country in the global energy market, and it has high-importance opportunities, projects, and businesses in this field,” adding, “We launched the Development Road Project, the pioneering and newest project in the region, which is the vital land channel linking basic economic parts in our developing region, and the most appropriate and best road for trade and economic exchange in the region.”

He stated, “Many international institutions have reported on the spread of corruption in Iraq, and we diagnosed this scourge and called it the “corruption pandemic,” and we made fighting it our first priority, and we began pursuing wanted persons wherever they are and whatever their positions and affiliations, and handing them over to the judiciary.”

Al-Sabah newspaper focused in the upcoming visit of Al-Sudani to Russia and said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to complete its diplomatic preparations and the necessary preparations for the visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Al-Sudani to the Russian capital, Moscow, during the next few weeks in response to an official invitation from the Kremlin, following the successful visit and participation of Al-Sudani in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that “Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, on the sidelines of his participation in the high-level week of meetings of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.”

The statement added that “the two sides discussed the prospects for joint cooperation and the development of bilateral relations between the two countries,” the Foreign Minister stressed that “the Iraqi side is working to complete the necessary preparations for the visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Al-Sudani to the Russian capital, Moscow, during the next few weeks.”

He explained that “the discussions between the two sides during the visit will provide an appropriate opportunity to discuss bilateral cooperation in the political and economic fields,” noting “the possibility of holding a meeting of the joint Iraqi-Russian committee on the sidelines of this visit.”

For his part, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed his country’s keenness to develop bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, pointing out that his country looks forward to the visit of Prime Minister Muhammad al-Sudani to Moscow during the next few weeks.”

Prime Minister Muhammad Al-Sudani returned to Baghdad yesterday afternoon, Saturday, after a visit to New York and his participation in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly in its 78th session.

The Prime Minister’s Media Office stated in a statement that Al-Sudani’s visit to New York included several events, meetings, and encounters with heads of state, heads of government, diplomatic officials, and heads of international organizations.

Regarding PM’s participation in the United Nations meetings, Rabie Nader, Director of the Prime Minister’s Media Office, said in a post on (x) platform: “An important and active Iraqi movement in New York, which included meetings and talks with an unprecedented number of leaders of countries from different trends and continents.” “The common link between all of them is the great desire to open up to Iraq and work in it.”

He added, “Over the course of six days, the Prime Minister presented – in the best possible way – Iraq’s official speech, which is based on balance, building serious economic partnerships, and building bridges of cooperation.”

He continued, “What is noteworthy is that most of those whom the Prime Minister met, including leaders and presidents, were very attentive and interactive with the priorities he adopted,” noting that “more than one head of state expressed a sincere desire to visit Iraq, in a clear (productive diplomacy) that was adopted by this government, which is keen to stay away from formal relations that do not go beyond the stage of taking souvenir photos.”

He stressed that “in addition to presidents and leaders, there was clear interest from research centers and institutions, which were keen to hold seminars with the aim of listening to the convictions and policies pursued by the Prime Minister in politics, security, economics and foreign relations.

Russian Fighter Jets Strike Ukrainian Command Centers In Donetsk

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday that the Russian Air Force targeted the command headquarters and operations centers of the Ukrainian forces in Donetsk.

The Ministry said in a statement that military fighter jets carried out an air strike on deployment points in the areas of Kubanka and Pershotravnevoy on the direction of Kubyansk.

It added that artillery forces thwarted an attempt by Ukrainian forces to advance in the area of Peshanoy, Petropavlovsk.

The Russian Ministry of Defense had previously announced that its forces repelled more than 50 attacks by Ukrainian units on the main fighting axes, including 28 on Donetsk axis alone, noting that the losses of the Ukrainian forces amounted to more than 4,015 soldiers killed and wounded. Among them are about 1,455 on Donetsk axis, more than 950 on South Donetsk axis, 515 on Zaporozhye axis, 215 on the Kubyansk axis, about 435 on Krasny Liman axis, and 445 on the Kherson axis.

Bahrain All Share Index has closed at 1,931.83 points marking an increase of 2.32 points above the previous closing .

This increase was due to the rise in the and Financials Sector.

Bahrain Islamic Index has closed at 721.44 points marking an increase of 4.53 points above the previous closing .

Results indicated that 54 equity transactions took place with a volume of 1,125,054 worth BD 263,845.

Investors traded mainly in the Financials Sector representing %87.81 of the total value of securities traded.

Finance Minister affirms depth of Bahrain-Oman relations

Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, has affirmed the depth of the long-standing fraternal Bahraini-Omani relations and cooperation across various fields, thanks to the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman.

Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa also highlighted the keenness of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamas Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to broaden bilateral cooperation towards more progress to achieve common aspirations.

The Minister of Finance and National Economy was speaking while receiving Saud bin Nasser Al Shukaili, Oman Tax Authority (OTA) Chairman, who is on a visit to the kingdom.

Shaikh Salman bin KHalifa reviewed with OTA Chairman the deep-rooted Bahraini-Omani relations, which are growing steadily across various fields, particularly the financial and economic ones.

He also stressed the importance of such visits in paving the way for exchanging experiences and expertise, as well as in expanding the frameworks if bilateral cooperation, in a way that would achieve common interests.

The two sides also discussed ways to bolster the ongoing cooperation between the two countries, in addition to issues of mutual concern.

BIA celebrates KSA 93rd National Day

Bahrain International Airport (BIA) greeted Saudi Arabian passengers arriving in Bahrain with national day festivities, marking the 93rd National Day of Saudi Arabia.

The festivities included performances by an Arabic traditional band, a display of extensive Arabic hospitality and special giveaways that included KSA-themed chocolate boxes and tote bags.

These celebrations highlighted the historical ties in aviation between the two countries’ national airline carriers.

Gulf Air has been proudly operating flights to and from Saudi Arabia since 1950, serving more than 10,000 via 100 flights every week.

Additionally, SAUDIA airline has been annually bringing over 62,078 passengers to Bahrain from its two major cities, Jeddah and Riyadh.

Social Development Minister affirms supporting national efforts to boost competitiveness among employees

Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al Asfoor, Minister of Social Development, was briefed on development ideas and projects of “Badir” initiative that were launched by the ministry’s employees.

The minister affirmed the ministry’s keenness to support national efforts to establish a culture of innovation and competitiveness among all its employees, to motivate them to develop creative ideas that serve the Government Plan (2023-2026).

Al Asfoor said that “Badir” would contribute positively to improving the quality of the ministry’s institutional performance, employee motivation and competitiveness, in a way that supports building national capacity and providing more flexible services.

The meeting discussed the possibility of implementing innovative projects, and their impact on administrative practices in all sectors of the ministry.

SCH President congratulates Primary Healthcare Centres for Diamond-level Accreditation

Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), lauded the success of Bahrain’s Primary Healthcare Centres in obtaining the diamond-level accreditation by Accreditation Canada International (ACI) for its excellence in meeting the standards of primary health services.

The president hailed the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to develop the health system.

He added that this accreditation for primary health care centres requires a series of comprehensive evaluation stages carried out by a neutral and independent body to determine the extent of the health institution’s commitment to quality and patient safety standards.

The accreditation of primary health care centres comes as part of the commitment of all government health facilities to Article 48/2018, which stipulates the necessity of achieving optimal quality health services.

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah said that Bahrain has taken pioneering steps in developing the health sector as it has been a model in dealing with various medical issues and in prioritizing citizens and residents’ welfare.

The ACI praised cooperation over 15 years of successive and continuous achievements with primary health care centres, the most recent of which was the primary health care centres obtaining diamond accreditation without any requirements.

The level of health services in the centres was praised, noting the high professionalism enjoyed by the staff. The health sector in the centers, which confirms the extent of the care and attention that the esteemed government attaches to excellence in the health sector.
