The head of the Iraqi Football Association meets his French counterpart in Paris


Baghdad , The head of the Iraqi Football Association, Adnan Darjal, met yesterday, Monday, with the head of the French Football Federation, Philippe Diallo, in his official office at the Federation’s headquarters in Paris, in the presence of Ambassador Wadih Batti, Iraq’s Ambassador to France.

The Football Association stated in a statement, “The meeting exchanged views on ways to develop and deepen relations between the two sides in the field of women’s football and talent sponsorship, in addition to other fields.”

Darjal stressed “the Iraqi Association’s determination to open a broad page of cooperation within a long-term strategy with the French Federation in line with the government’s orientations and the special support that Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa al-Sudani gives to the youth and sports sector in general, and to the Football Association in particular.”

For his part, Diallo expressed the French Federation’s “readiness and sincere desire to cooperate,” noting that he will send to the Iraqi side a
draft of the memorandum of understanding that will frame this cooperation to study it and agree on its final form in order to sign it in Baghdad as soon as possible.”

Marine resources authority conducts 3,644 inspections in first half of the year

Manama, The General Directorate of Marine Resources has conducted 3,644 inspection visits in the first half of this year as part of its efforts to preserve natural resources, enhance marine stock, and regulate fishing practices.

The directorate emphasised its commitment to safeguarding marine resources and promoting sustainable fishing through various initiatives and programmes. These efforts include intensified inspection campaigns along coasts and public markets, in collaboration with relevant authorities, to ensure legal and proper fishing practices and optimal use of the marine environment.

According to the directorate, the inspections were carried out across Bahrain’s governorates, with 1,183 visits in Muharraq, 1,066 in the Capital Governorate, 825 in the Northern Governorate, and 570 in the Southern Governorate. These inspections resulted in 93 violations, and appropriate legal action was taken in coordination with the concerned authorities.

The inspections covered public coasts, central markets, fi
sh shops, and outdoor stalls, verifying fishing licences, fishing gear and methods, permissible fish types according to fishing seasons, and the safety procedures of workers.

The General Directorate of Marine Resources highlighted its ongoing coordination with relevant authorities to intensify inspection campaigns across all governorates to combat any practices that threaten fish stock and marine resources.

The directorate called on the public to support national efforts to combat illegal practices by adhering to regulations and reporting any violations through the Fisherman Service at 38488040 or the national suggestion and complaint system (Tawasul).

Jazan Border Guards Thwart Smuggling 115 Kg of Khat

Border Guard land patrols in Al-Dayer sector of the Jazan region have thwarted the smuggling of 115 kilograms of khat. Preliminary statutory procedures have been completed, and the seizures were handed over to the competent authority.

Security authorities urge citizens and residents to report information about any activities related to drug smuggling or selling by calling 911 for Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Region and 999 for the rest of the regions. They may also contact the GDNC at 995 or through email: 995@gdnc.gov.sa. All reports will be treated with strict confidentiality.

Justice Minister presents draft law to Bahrain Bar Society

Manama, Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Maawda, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Affairs, presented the initial draft of the new Advocacy Law to the Bahrain Bar Society, during a meeting with the Society’s president, Salah Ahmed Al Medfaa, and its board members.

The Minister emphasised the ministry’s commitment to continuing to develop its partnership with the Bahrain Bar Society and the importance of consulting lawyers on the draft law. He said that a ministry team would review all suggestions from lawyers to reflect their objectives in the new law.
