Iraq, Canada discuss cooperation in combating human trafficking and money laundering


Iraq and Canada discussed cooperation in the fields of combating human trafficking and money laundering.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Iraqi Ambassador to Canada, Abdul Rahman Hamid Al-Husseini, met with the Undersecretary of the Canadian Ministry of Public Safety, Shawn Topper, and during the meeting, the prospects of bilateral cooperation between the two countries were discussed, especially in the fields of combating human trafficking, cybercrimes, money laundering, and drug trafficking.

During the meeting, Topper expressed Canada’s readiness to cooperate in these fields and all fields related to internal security, and to exchange experiences between the two friendly countries.

Al-Sudani meets Al-Ghais and confirms Iraq’s commitment to the general policies of the plans adopted by OPEC countries regarding production


Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani received today, Thursday, the Secretary-General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Haitham Al-Ghais.

According to a statement by the Prime Minister’s Office, the meeting dealt with issues related to the oil market, with what the region, which represents the main source of oil to the world, is witnessing, and the importance of coordinating joint efforts between all members states of the organization, in a way that maintains the sustainability and stability of oil prices, and does not harm exporters and consumers.

The Prime Minister stressed that Iraq, as one of the largest oil exporting countries in the organization, always declares its commitment to the general policies of the plans adopted by OPEC countries regarding production, or what is determined within the framework of the OPEC Plus agreement.

Al-Maliki affirms Iraq’s position rejecting the presence of banned groups and organizations on its territory


Head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, affirmed Iraq’s position rejecting the presence of banned groups and organizations on its territory.

The Coalition stated in a statement: “Al-Maliki met in his office today with the Turkish Ambassador to Iraq, Anil Bora Inan, and during the meeting, they discussed the latest developments in the political and security situation in the country” and the developments on the Arab and international arenas, especially the events in occupied Palestine and the Gaza Strip and the efforts aimed at stopping the criminal Zionist aggression.

The head of the State of Law Coalition stressed the importance of strengthening and developing bilateral relations in various fields, stressing the importance of following up on the implementation of all bilateral agreements between Baghdad and Ankara, especially with regard to organizing the water file and increasing water flows, as well as security cooperation agreements in border areas, which confirms Iraq’s sovereignty over its
lands and prevents any violations, reiterating Iraq’s position rejecting the presence of banned groups and organizations on its lands.

For his part, the Turkish Ambassador stressed his country’s keenness to develop bilateral relations and cooperation in areas of common interest, which culminated in Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Iraq, praising the positions of the head of the coalition in support of strengthening relations between the two countries.

Mawlawi receives MPs Abdullah, Bou Assi

Democratic Gathering’ bloc MP Bilal Abdullah, on Thursday visited Caretaker Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Judge Bassam Mawlawi, at his ministry office.

The pair held a tour d’horizon bearing on the general political and security situation, and an array of matters related to the Iqlim al-Kharroub region.

On the other hand, “Strong Republic” bloc MP Pierre Bou Assi, visited today Minister Mawlawi at his ministry office.

A statement from Bou Assi’s Media office said that the meeting touched on the recent encroachments and provocations that took place in the Upper Metn- Baabda district, and the means to prevent their recurrence.

Turkish Parliament Speaker Slams Arab League, Islamic Countries Over Palestinian Issue


The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Numan Kurtulmus criticized the silence of the Arab League and Islamic countries regarding the Palestinian issue, stressing that this silence is what contributed to Israel continuing its criminal barbarism against the Palestinian people.

Kurtulmus said in a television interview with a local channel last night: “Israel does not derive its strength from its technology, nor from its dominance over the international media, nor from the Zionist lobby, but rather Israel’s greatest strength is that the Islamic world is divided among itself.”

Kurtulmus stressed that Israel never wants Palestine to exist in that geographical area.

The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament renewed his country’s position in support of the Palestinian people and their just cause in establishing their free and independent state, stressing that his country will continue to stand by the Palestinian people in their struggle and fight until a completely free Palestinian state is established.

Kurtulmus poi
nted out that the attendance of all MPs to the speech of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the General Assembly of the Turkish Parliament on the fifteenth of this month sent a message that Turkish policy as a whole stands by Palestine and the struggle of the Palestinian people.

The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament stressed that the greatest harm that could be caused to Palestine is creating divisions between Palestinian groups or siding with one of the parties there.
