Kathmandu: Contact has been lost with 380 people in Nepal, most of them foreign nationals, after massive flooding swept through a border area near Tibet. The Nepal Tourism Board has reported that records from travel and tour companies indicate that 384 people, including 291 foreign nationals and 93 Nepali citizens, have been reported missing in the affected areas. Authorities are actively working to determine their whereabouts.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Nepalese police earlier reported that eight people have died in the floods. Chinese state media has reported 'heavy casualties' after flash floods struck a commercial center in Tibet, on the Chinese side of the border. The monsoon season, which runs from June to September, frequently brings deadly floods and landslides across South Asia.
