London-- An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale struck on Tuesday the South Sandwich Islands in the South Atlantic Ocean.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 2 kilometers, adding that there were no reports of material or human damage due to the quake so far.
