Today’s newspapers focus on Zionist attacks and rising tension in the region

Today, Thursday, August 1, newspapers published in Baghdad focused their attention on the Zionist attacks and the escalation of tension in the region.

The newspaper / Al-Sabah /, which is issued by the Iraqi Media Network, published an editorial article, in which it said: “In the past two days, “Israel” has exceeded every limit that a rational person can imagine. It behaved as if it owned the world and represented divine power on earth. Its hand reaches wherever it wants, and it kills whomever it wants whenever it wants, and no one can question it about what it does.”

It added: “Yesterday, the world seemed to be divided into two parts, with no third: the first is unable to actually respond to “Israel” and deter it, and this is the position of the Arabs and Muslims in general and the oppressed peoples even in Europe and America, and the second is practically capable of deterring this barbarism but wants it to continue and increase and for Satan to gain greater power, and this is the position of most Western
governments that have a large share of the sin in all these crimes.”

It continued: “Perhaps there is a third part that does not deserve mentioning it because of its foolishness, and they are some Arabs who gloat over other Arabs and think that Israel will be satisfied with striking rebellious capitals and cities, and will pardon other obedient capitals and cities. These are the ones that Satan truly loves, because they imagine that Satan has an end at a certain point or that he will one day be satisfied with his evils and that he will not turn against them, and they do not realize that Satan has no vacation.”

As for Al-Zaman newspaper, it was interested in the military units and security services in Iraq entering a state of alert based on directives issued by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani, due to the escalation of tension in the region.

It quoted an official statement: “Al-Sudani chaired a meeting that included a number of military and security leaders, to review the
overall security developments that occurred during the past hours. The meeting also witnessed a discussion of security data and expected repercussions resulting from the events in Iraq and the region.”

During the meeting, Al-Sudani issued, according to the statement, a number of directives and recommendations to various security and military units.

Al-Zaman quoted Major General Yahia Rasool, the spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, as saying: “Despite all efforts through political and diplomatic channels, and the efforts made by the Supreme Military Technical Committees, and reaching advanced stages of ending the file of the presence and work of the International Coalition Forces to fight ISIS in Iraq, and transform them into a bilateral security relationship based on mutual respect and affirming Iraq’s sovereignty and security, the International Coalition Forces committed a heinous crime and blatant assault.”

He added that it targeted, with fighter jets coming from behind the border,
Iraqi sites belonging to the security services north of Babylon Governorate, which led to the martyrdom of a number of members of the security forces in the Popular Mobilization Forces, and the wounding of a number of others without any justification for this reckless and irresponsible aggressive act, stressing that such dangerous and reckless violations are likely to undermine, to a large extent, all efforts, mechanisms and contexts of joint security work to combat ISIS in Iraq and Syria, and are likely to drag Iraq and the entire region into conflicts, wars and dangerous repercussions. In another matter, Al-Zawraa newspaper, which is issued by the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, followed up on the latest preparations of the Electoral Commission to hold the Kurdistan Regional Parliament elections.

The spokeswoman for the commission, Jumana Al-Ghalay, said in an interview with Al-Zawraa: The commission is continuing its work to hold elections for the Kurdistan Regional Parliament in Iraq on October 20, 2024. In
dicating: “The High Electoral Commission has now completed the stage of verifying the names of the candidates and will send them to the Integrity and Criminal Evidence Commission in the Kurdistan Region as well as to the Integrity and Criminal Evidence Commission in Baghdad to verify the eligibility of the candidates.”

She added: “The draw will be held for the numbers of alliances, parties, individual candidates and component candidates in the electoral lists in the first half of next August, noting that the Electoral Commission is currently receiving local and international media professionals, local and international observers and agents of political parties for the purpose of registering them to monitor the electoral process.

She explained that: “As part of its preparations, the Commission has begun what is called hierarchical training, where employees of the National Office train departments’ officials in the governorates of the Kurdistan Region on the mechanism of using electoral devices or what is cal
led voting procedures for the purpose of training registration centers and then polling employees after completing their registration process.
