The River Police in Basra rescued today a girl who attempted to commit suicide in the waters of the Shatt al-Arab.

The Basra Governorate Police Command said in a statement, “While one of the river police boats was roaming in the waters of the Shatt al-Arab near the presidential palaces, a girl was noticed who had thrown herself into the water in an attempt to commit suicide. Noting that she was rescued in a timely manner by the river police crew and delivered to the Shatt Al-Arab Police Station to preserve her safety.
