Al henakiyah: Al Henakiyah (1) Solar PV Plant, one of the projects under the National Renewable Energy Program supervised and implemented by the Ministry of Energy, has a capacity of 1,100 MW, sufficient to supply electricity to approximately 190,000 homes annually.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the plant is located south of Al Henakiyah Governorate in Madinah Region and commenced operations in summer 2025. Electricity generated by the project is purchased at a tariff of 1.6842 cents per kilowatt-hour, demonstrating the competitiveness of renewable energy projects in the Kingdom and their ability to achieve globally competitive electricity generation costs.

The project forms part of the Kingdom's efforts to expand the deployment of renewable energy sources and energy storage systems, support the objectives of the Liquid Fuel Displacement Program, and reduce emissions.

Al Henakiyah (1) is also one of the projects included in the fourth phase of the National Renewable Energy Program. It aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 to increase the contribution of renewable energy and energy storage systems to approximately 50% of the energy mix for electricity generation by 2030, subject to growth in electricity demand. The project also supports the diversification of energy sources and enhances energy security and sustainability.
