Al-Jouf Region Surpasses Afforestation Goals with 8.8 Million Trees Planted

Accra:Al-Jouf The Al-Jouf Region has successfully exceeded its afforestation target for 2030 by planting 8.8 million trees, achieving a 103.5% completion rate under the Saudi Green Initiative, the National Greening Program, and the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the initial target was to plant 8.5 million trees by 2030, but this milestone was reached ahead of schedule, between 2021 and 2026.

Additionally, the region has made significant progress in land rehabilitation, restoring 155,000 hectares of degraded land. This achievement represents 68.7% of the planned 226,000-hectare restoration target set for 2030.

These efforts highlight the accelerated progress toward achieving the environmental sustainability goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to combat desertification, rehabilitate natural vegetation cover, and expand green spaces throughout the Kingdom.
