Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani received today, Sunday, the delegation of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), headed by Zuhair Hamdi, the Director of the Regional Program for the Middle East and North Africa at the Agency.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister affirmed the government's interest and continued direction towards investing in renewable energy and its fields, given its importance in the current and future energy system, in order to face the climate challenges that threaten the environment in most countries of the world.
He explained that the government will spare no effort in the process of formulating policies and legislation required to accelerate the transition towards renewable energy, especially with the availability of large capabilities and capabilities available in this field.
Al-Sudani indicated that the government has put combating desertification and climate change, and going towards renewable energy at the top of its ministerial program's priorities in the field of energy, and it represents one of the basics of its comprehensive reform approach for all vital sectors, in addition to that this sector represents an important pillar for addressing environmental, economic and social impacts of climate change, through its promising solutions and opportunities.
