Arab Conference of Border, Airport and Port Security Chiefs to Open in Tunis Wednesday

Riyadh: The 18th Arab Conference for Heads of Border, Airport and Port Security Agencies will be held on Wednesday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab Interior Ministers Council in Tunis.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the conference will be attended by heads of border, airport, and port security agencies from Arab countries, as well as representatives from the Arab League, the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex), Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS), and the council's general secretariat.

The conference is set to discuss several key topics, including the systems and mechanisms used by member states to connect border crossings and facilitate communication between them within each country. It will also cover mechanisms for communication between national border security operations rooms in Arab countries and review member states' experiences in connecting border crossings within their respective countries.

Following the conference, the second meeting of the joint committee comprising experts and representatives from Arab countries' ministries of justice and interior and relevant authorities will take place. This meeting will consider a draft Arab convention on combating acts of unlawful interference targeting the security and safety of civil aviation.
