Arab League Criticizes Somaliland’s Embassy Plans in Jerusalem

Arab league: Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit condemned reports regarding the Somaliland region's intention to open an embassy in occupied Jerusalem, emphasizing the Arab League's complete rejection of the proposal.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Aboul Gheit labeled the initiative as legally void and a provocation to both the Arab and Islamic worlds. He interpreted it as an attempt by the Israeli occupation to gain recognition from entities that lack legal standing, aiming to bolster its illegal occupation of East Jerusalem.

He also highlighted that the move undermines the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia. He cautioned that such actions could exacerbate tensions and instability in the Horn of Africa. The Arab League reiterated its stance in support of Somalia's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
