Arab League Demands Action Against Israeli Law on Palestinian Prisoners

Riyadh: The Arab League called on the international community, including the United Nations, the Security Council, and the International Criminal Court, to take immediate and decisive action to repeal a law passed by the Israeli Knesset allowing the execution of Palestinian prisoners. It also urged holding accountable those responsible for violations and ensuring international protection for detainees.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the Arab League said in a statement that the law constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law. It added that the measure reflects clear discrimination against Palestinian prisoners and amounts to a war crime and a crime against humanity.

The Arab League warned of the serious repercussions of the law, stressing that it risks further escalating tensions and undermining efforts to achieve regional stability.

It emphasized the need for the international community to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities to protect the Palestinian people, halt violations, and ensure respect for human rights and international law.
