Arab League Receives Palestinian Request for Extraordinary Session of its Foreign Ministers Council

The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States said that the State of Palestine has requested that an extraordinary session of the Arab League Council be convened, at the foreign minister level, as soon as possible to discuss ways of taking Arab and international political action to stop Israel's aggression.

In a statement today, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League Ambassador Hossam Zaki said that the Palestinian request came in an official memorandum received by the General Secretariat of the Arab League from the Permanent Delegate of Palestine to the Arab League, and was circulated among Arab member states.

He added that there are consultations between the General Secretariat and a number of Arab states, in particular the Kingdom of Morocco, which is presiding over the current session of the Arab League Council, to determine a suitable date for convening the meeting, to ensure the participation of the largest number of Arab ministers.
