According to Saudi Press Agency, the program is part of the fund's contribution to supporting Saudi Arabia's environmental priorities, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative to protect the environment, enhance biodiversity, and restore ecosystems.

The program is open to researchers, research and academic institutions, relevant entities and organizations, specialists and experts, and undergraduate and graduate students to submit proposals in areas including scientific research and environmental monitoring, wildlife and natural habitat conservation, veterinary medicine, and ecology.

Eligible projects may receive funding for one year. The program provides financial support of up to approximately SAR19,000 for initiatives and some SAR94,000 for research projects.

The program will be implemented through two rounds in 2026. Applications for the current round will remain open until October 1, followed by an independent technical review phase to assess proposals based on eligibility, feasibility, and expected impact criteria, ahead of announcing the projects selected for support.
