Amman: The Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI), chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and represented by the General Court of Audit (GCA), celebrated its 50th anniversary under the patronage of Dr. Jaafar Hassan, Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The ceremony, held in Amman, was attended by Dr. Hussam Alangari, President of GCA and Chairman of ARABOSAI, along with the heads of supreme audit institutions from ARABOSAI's member states.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the event highlighted significant milestones and achievements since ARABOSAI's establishment in 1976. The organization has played a vital role in fostering cooperation among supreme audit institutions in Arab member states, as well as with international and regional organizations involved in public-sector auditing and accounting.
The organization has also contributed to raising awareness of public financial audits in Arab countries and supported supreme audit institutions in promoting transparency, efficiency, and effectiveness. These efforts aim to ensure the optimal use of public resources.
Dr. Alangari emphasized in his speech that the celebration serves as an opportunity to showcase ARABOSAI's achievements and encourages continued cooperation among Arab member institutions. He stressed the importance of adapting to modern developments by evaluating methodologies and utilizing necessary technologies to enhance the institutions' roles and performance.
GCA's historical contribution to ARABOSAI began in 1983 when it first assumed the chairmanship, laying the groundwork for the organization's operations. GCA has continued to play an active role, becoming the first supreme audit institution to hold the chairmanship for two consecutive terms (2022-2025 and 2025-2028), reflecting its commitment to strengthening collaboration among Arab audit institutions.
The ceremony also featured the unveiling of the visual identity for ARABOSAI's 50th anniversary and an exhibition titled 'ARABOSAI Across Five Decades,' documenting the organization's historical journey. A scientific symposium, scheduled for tomorrow, will see participation from GCA to discuss 'the Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Work of Supreme Audit Institutions.'
