Riyadh: Aseer Region is one of Saudi Arabia's leading grape-producing areas, where more than 500 farms yield over 1,000 tons of premium grapes annually. Al-Mawin Center, 95 kilometers north of Abha, stands as the region's most renowned grape-growing site, benefiting from its mild climate, fertile soil, and agricultural heritage. The site cultivates varieties including Razaqi, Italian, French, and other local and imported types.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Aseer's farmers preserve traditional agricultural practices proven effective across generations, most notably "cluster-zone leaf removal," which begins in May with the appearance of fruit and involves removing dense leaves surrounding the clusters to improve sun exposure, ventilation, and nutrient absorption. Farmers also carry out soil tilling and weed removal ahead of the harvest season in July and August.

Farmer Abdullah Al-Shaflout, who has grown grapes for over 25 years since starting in 1419 AH (1998) with government support, said his farm now includes 1,125 grape vines alongside around 150 pomegranate, fig, mulberry, cherry, lemon, and Arabic coffee trees, in addition to a second farm with 440 trees.

Al-Shaflout noted that his farm relies on an advanced irrigation and fertilization management system using automated controls, with daily monitoring of tree health and integrated pest and disease prevention programs, stressing that early prevention has become essential to maintaining crop quality.
