Jeddah:The Kingdom's skies are set to dazzle with a series of astronomical events throughout November 2026, including the appearance of four planets in the dawn sky, a 'Giant Full Moon,' and several meteor showers.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Jeddah Astronomy Society President Eng. Majed Abu Zahra explained that the Full Moon on November 24 at 553 p.m. Makkah time will occur near the Moon's perigee, causing it to appear slightly larger and brighter. He clarified that the term 'Giant Full Moon,' or supermoon, is not officially recognized in astronomical classifications.
The planets Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter will be visible in the dawn sky from November 13 to 22. Additionally, the Northern Taurids and the Leonids meteor showers are expected to peak on the nights of November 11 to 12 and November 17 to 18, respectively. The Leonids could produce 10 to 15 meteors per hour under optimal conditions.
Eng. Majed Abu Zahra recommended that observers select dark locations with an open horizon to best experience these celestial events.
