Attorney General Sheikh Saud bin Abdullah Al-Mujib participated in the First Summit of the Heads of Prosecution Services of G20 member states (PG20) in the Federative Republic of Brazil.
In his speech, Sheikh Al-Mujib expressed his hopes that the recommendations of this summit would result in fruitful outcomes that enhance cooperation and integration among the public prosecution offices of the Group of Twenty (G20) member states.
He emphasized the importance of exchanging expertise and perspectives to achieve swift justice and protect the global economy from increasing challenges, particularly in light of the rapid evolution of criminal methods. He highlighted the importance of raising the level of coordination between public prosecution offices to combat transnational crimes, especially human trafficking and cybercrime.
The Saudi attorney general stressed the need to leverage technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to combat these crimes and predict them before they occur, to ensure the protection of
individual and community rights and safeguard economic and environmental gains.
He highlighted the role of the Public Prosecution in the Kingdom in protecting human rights without discrimination, showcasing the Kingdom’s pioneering initiatives in this field, including the enactment of legislation that safeguards and promotes such rights.
In the context of the Kingdom’s commitment to environmental preservation, he pointed to pioneering environmental initiatives such as the “Saudi Green” and “Middle East Green” initiatives launched by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince. He noted that these initiatives aim to combat climate change, increase green spaces, and protect biodiversity.
Sheikh Al-Mujib concluded his speech by praising the importance of this summit as a platform to enhance cooperation between the public prosecution offices of the G20, expressing his hopes for further coordination to achieve justice and protect communities.
Meanwhile, summit participants discussed ways to develop joint mechanisms to
address international legal challenges and strengthen legal cooperation between the Kingdom and the participating countries.
On the sidelines of the summit, the attorney general held a series of bilateral meetings, including with his Brazilian, Russian, and Indian counterparts, exchanging views and experiences in various judicial fields.
