AUB’S OLAYAN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS EXECUTIVE EDUCATION, LEBANESE BUSINESS COUNCIL IN KUWAIT HIGHLIGHT NEW HORIZONS FOR RESTAURANTS IN LEBANON IN SERIES OF WEBINARS

Based on the successful vision and promising strategies of restaurant owners in Lebanon, AUB’s Olayan School of Business Executive Education, Khaddit Beirut Initiative, and the Lebanese Business Council in Kuwait co-developed a timely series of six thought-provoking webinars starting June 8, 2021 up until July 13, 2021 every Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM Kuwait time. The series highlights the best business practices of Lebanon’s restaurateurs who expanded globally and particularly in the Arab markets. Those markets include Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE and Egypt.

The series showcases successful business owners’ experiences in crisis response and how to grow in uncertain contexts. Speakers shed light on how the market has shifted during the pandemic, post the blast driven by global industry trends.

Mrs. Sara Abdul Samad, Member of the Board of Directors of the Lebanese Business Council in Kuwait said: “Our participation in organizing this series is within our responsibility and commitment to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in Lebanon, and these make up the bulk of Lebanese enterprises and are therefore a key engine in stimulating the Lebanese economy and creating jobs.” She added, “We, at the Lebanese Business Council in Kuwait, are working to support the introduction of new visions and ideas to the owners of these enterprises and projects and to help them understand the Arab markets, including Kuwait’s, if they want to expand and choose another area for their activity,” stressing that the restaurant sector is the first one they are tackling among other sectors vital to the Lebanese economy.

Ms. Fida Kanaan, Director of AUB Olayan School of Business Executive Education and Co-Founder of Khaddit Beirut said, “The series is to create a platform for knowledge sharing shedding light on the successes of restaurant owners in Lebanon. Lebanon’s restaurants industry is a key attraction not only in Lebanon but also globally. Sharing the business owners’ best practices will help it continue to prosper and grow on the regional and global scenes.”

The first seminar was held on June 8, 2021 titled “Take Your Restaurant to a New Market”. The speakers related the starting point of their successful career and highlighted each country’s regulations and requirements. They addressed the ease and challenges of entry, rules, regulations, risks and the latest trends in each market. The subsequent webinars will include related topics such as franchising versus manchising your restaurant business and the rise of food aggregators and cloud kitchens. They will also address the economic prospects in the region and how to get investment and financing opportunities in these markets.
