Jerusalem – Together – The US Department of Defense (the Pentagon) said that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin stressed in a call with the Israeli Defense Minister the need to take concrete steps to protect relief workers and civilians in Gaza.
The Pentagon said in a statement that Austin urged Gallant during the call to conduct a transparent and rapid investigation into the killing of aid workers and to share its results publicly.
The statement added, “Austin expressed to Gallant his anger over the killing of World Central Kitchen workers in an Israeli bombing in Gaza.”
