The British Foreign Office confirmed today, Friday, that the burning and desecration of the Holy Qur’an in Sweden is a deep insult to Muslims.

A ministry statement said, "The burning and desecration of the Holy Qur'an in Stockholm is a profound insult to Muslims around the world and is completely inappropriate."

The statement added, "We condemn hatred on the basis of religion or belief, and we will defend freedom of religion or belief for all, and contribute to promoting mutual respect."

The statement continued, "We are aware of the deep suffering that Muslims all over the world suffer from due to the burning of the Qur'an."/ End
