Civil Defense Urges Caution as Thunderstorms Continue through Tuesday

Riyadh: The General Directorate of Civil Defense urged people to exercise caution, remain in safe places, stay away from flood-prone areas and valleys, avoid swimming in them, and follow instructions as thunderstorms are expected to continue in some regions of Saudi Arabia through next Tuesday.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the National Center for Meteorology said Makkah Region will be affected by moderate to heavy rainfall leading to flash floods, hail, and downdraft winds stirring up dust and sand, affecting Taif, Maysan, Adham, and Al-Ardiyat. Light to moderate rainfall is also expected in the city of Makkah, Al-Kamil, Al-Jumum, and Bahra.

It added that Jazan Region, Aseer Region, and Al-Baha Region will be affected by moderate to heavy rainfall leading to flash floods, hail, and downdraft winds stirring up dust and sand, while Madinah and Najran regions are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall.
