Riyadh: A ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia was intercepted and destroyed by the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces as it aimed for Riyadh, according to a statement from Major General Turki Al-Malki, the Official Spokesperson of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen. The incident occurred at dawn on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the interception marks a significant success for the Coalition amid escalating hostilities. The Houthi militia's attempt to target Riyadh, a city with a population exceeding eight million, underscores their persistent and deliberate attacks on civilian areas. This recent escalation highlights the militia's ongoing hostile and terrorist activities aimed at civilians and civilian structures.

In addition to the attempted attack on Riyadh, the Houthi militia also targeted other cities, including Baish, Taif, Farasan, and Yanbu. However, these attempts were thwarted by the air defense systems in place, demonstrating the effectiveness of Saudi Arabia's defensive capabilities.
