CST, ITU to Hold Global Space Connectivity and Sustainability Events in October

Riyadh: In partnership with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) will organize Global Space Connectivity and Sustainability Events in Riyadh from October 12 to 14 under the title "Connected World, Sustainable Space."

According to Saudi Press Agency, the event will integrate the third editions of the Global Forum on Connecting the World from the Skies and the Space Sustainability Forum, forming a unified platform that reflects a global commitment to advancing innovation in non-terrestrial networks (NTN) and promoting space sustainability.

The event aims to explore international trends that are shaping the future of space communications and the integration of terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks, showcase the latest regulatory and technical developments in NTN, and highlight their role in expanding connectivity and bridging the global digital divide. It will also address space sustainability and the responsible use of space resources through the exchange of best practices and practical experience, and discuss the latest updates on international initiatives.

It will bring together national and international regulators in the space and telecommunications sectors, representatives from manufacturing and service provider companies, as well as an elite group of global researchers and technology specialists.

Discussions will focus on eight themes, including integrated connectivity for the 6G era, paving the way to WRC-27, unlocking the potential of direct-to-device (D2D) connectivity, and space economies and emerging markets. The agenda will also address space as critical infrastructure, space-enabled sustainability on Earth, global governance and responsible behavior in space, and managing congestion, mitigating interference, and preventing space debris.

The event will showcase the outcomes of the latest NTN technical trials and announce the winners of the third edition of the NTN international research competition in collaboration with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. It will also feature panel discussions and technical presentations covering the latest NTN services, as well as their regulatory and scientific aspects.
