Darah CEO Highlights New Program to Compile Saudi Historians’ Complete Works

Manila:King Abdulaziz Public Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) CEO Turki bin Mohammed Al-Shuwaier has announced the launch of a significant program aimed at compiling and publishing the complete works of pioneering Saudi historians. The initiative was unveiled at a ceremony under the patronage of Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Special Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Darah. This scholarly effort seeks to consolidate the intellectual legacy of Saudi historians into comprehensive editions, thereby enhancing access to their works and expanding opportunities for specialized historical research.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Prince Faisal's support, guidance, and oversight during the program's development underscore his dedication to initiating high-quality scholarly projects with enduring impact. These initiatives are crucial for preserving the historical heritage of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and presenting it to future generations through authoritative publications. The program reflects this ambitious vision by translating it into practical endeavors that advance the study of Saudi history and its sources.

Al-Shuwaier emphasized that the program goes beyond merely publishing historical works; it aims to create scholarly references by compiling each historian's contributions into a comprehensive collection. This approach enables researchers to examine the works in context and track the evolution of their methodologies and perspectives in documenting and interpreting events. Given that some historians' works are scattered across various sources and collections, making them difficult to access comprehensively, the program plays a vital role in facilitating access to this heritage. It provides organized scholarly material that supports academic research and broadens the scope of studies on the history of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arabian Peninsula.
