Darah Participates in ICA Abu Dhabi Congress 2023
The King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) is participating in the International Council on Archives (ICA) Congress Abu Dhabi 2023, which started Tuesday at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center under the patronage of UAE Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Darah CEO Turki Al-Shuwaier was present at the opening ceremony.
Darah's membership in ICA and the large number of various specialists have enabled Darah to secure cooperation, get useful updates in the field, and share knowledge.
During the congress, held under the theme "Enriching Knowledge Societies", workshops were also held, aimed at providing knowledge and at helping to examine various aspects of archival work; experts, specialists and archivists, as well as thought leaders from around the world took part in these workshops to explore novel ways to provide and access information in modern societies.
Darah participated with a specialized exhibition, held on the sidelines of the congress, and a film showing its role in the service of societies over half a century, as well as its efforts to disseminate knowledge among different peoples, to achieve lasting friendships and fruitful cooperation that fosters global peace.
Darah also participated in a workshop titled "Saudi and Middle East Green Initiatives and Promising Opportunities for Archives: Green Ideas and Observations", delivered by Executive Director of the Saudi Center for Digital Content Dr. Sulieman Al-Shuhri and Abdullah Al-Sarra, and attended the coordination meeting of members of the Arab Regional Branch of ICA (ARBICA), where participants discussed the possibility of holding a series of quarterly scientific meetings and a scientific symposium next year to mark the International Archives Day, and launch a collaborative training project to draw on distinctive experiences and exchange expertise.
