Deputy Speaker of Shura Council Meets with Parliamentary Secretary to Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs

Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Mishaal bin Fahm Al-Sulami met today at the council headquarters with Parliamentary Secretary to the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Robert Oliphant and his accompanying delegation to review bilateral relations and ways to enhance them to serve common interests.

Al-Sulami talked about the efforts made by the Kingdom in combating terrorism in the region and the world, including the establishment of the Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition and the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology (Etidal), as well as Saudi participation in the establishment of the Global Coalition against Daesh.

Oliphant said that the aim of the visit is to strengthen relations between Canada and the Kingdom. He praised the Kingdom's efforts in combating terrorism and the many initiatives it came up with in order to resolve disputes by peaceful means, including its prominent role in bringing peace to Yemen and in facilitating pre-negotiation talks between Sudan's rival military factions, in Jeddah.
