Riyadh: Diriyah Company has announced a SAR2.7 billion contract to build the Waldorf Astoria superblock, awarded to a joint venture between Hassan Allam Construction Saudi Limited and Urbacon Saudi Company S.P.C., a subsidiary of UCC Holding.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Diriyah Company Group CEO Jerry Inzerillo remarked that the development of the Waldorf Astoria at Diriyah signifies the continuous progress of their development program. It marks a substantial milestone in realizing Diriyah's vision by attracting globally recognized hospitality brands and establishing a dynamic mixed-use destination, cementing Diriyah's status as a premier global destination.
The contract signifies a pivotal step in expanding Diriyah's portfolio of prestigious hotels and branded residences. It includes the development of Waldorf Astoria Diriyah, which will feature 160 rooms, 39 suites, and a presidential suite. The project will also encompass a selection of restaurants and caf©s, a grand ballroom, meeting rooms, a spa, and a fitness center, all spanning a total gross floor area of 22,715 square meters.
The development will further include 47 Waldorf Astoria Residences Diriyah, with a total gross floor area of 10,090 square meters. The superblock will also feature over 45,000 square meters of mixed-use office space, 60,263 square meters of residential space, and 8,555 square meters of retail and food and beverage space.
Additionally, the project will have a central basement serving the office and residential components, with a total built-up area of 70,290 square meters. It will also encompass associated retail units, external works, and the surrounding public realm, enhancing Diriyah's hospitality and lifestyle offerings while supporting the creation of a lively, walkable, world-class destination.
Upon completion, Diriyah is anticipated to contribute SAR70 billion to Saudi Arabia's GDP, generating approximately 180,000 jobs, providing homes for around 100,000 residents, and attracting 50 million visitors annually. The Diriyah giga-project will consist of museums, retail districts, a university, the Royal Diriyah Opera House, Diriyah Arena, 34 world-class hotels, a variety of restaurants, the Greg Norman-designed championship golf course at Wadi Safar, the Royal Golf Club, and the Royal Equestrian and Polo Club, alongside office spaces for numerous professionals across the technology, media, arts, and education sectors.
