Final Qualifiers for Holy Quran Memorization Competition to Commence in Sri Lanka

Colombo: The second edition of the final qualifiers for the Holy Quran memorization national competition in Sri Lanka will commence on Saturday in Colombo. The competition is organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, represented by the Religious Attach© in India, in cooperation with the Kingdom’s Embassy in Colombo, to support Quranic activities locally and internationally.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the competition is held with the support of the Kingdom for the second year in a row and aims to promote memorization of the Holy Quran among young people and encourage them to adhere to its teachings.

The competition also aims to spread moderation and strengthen cultural and religious ties between the Kingdom and friendly countries, thus contributing to building a generation that is proud of its Islamic identity and committed to its religion’s teachings.

The preliminary qualifiers, held on December 28 and 29, 2024, in all regions of Sri Lanka, saw 1,900 contestants nationwide. 400 contestants advanced to the final round.
