GCC and WIPO Forge Partnership to Enhance Intellectual Property Training

Geneva: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi and Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Daren Tang signed a cooperation agreement today in Geneva, the Swiss Confederation.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Albudaiwi stated that the signing of the cooperation agreement aims to support and develop Gulf talent in the field of intellectual property, in addition to bolstering the work of the Intellectual Property Training Centre of the Patent Office at the General Secretariat. This will be achieved through implementing specialized training programs and exchanging expertise, contributing to cementing the intellectual property ecosystem in the GCC states and supporting innovation and creativity to keep pace with global developments in this field.

Furthermore, both sides held a meeting during which they addressed ways to enhance cooperation between WIPO and the GCC to advance shared objectives. They also reviewed several initiatives and programs of common interest, leading to strengthening collaboration with relevant international organizations and leveraging their expertise in this domain.
