Riyadh: A workshop on studying the feasibility of developing water interconnection projects among GCC member states concluded on Wednesday at the headquarters of the GCC Interconnection Authority (GCCIA). According to Saudi Press Agency, the two-day workshop was organized by the GCC General Secretariat in cooperation with GCCIA, with participation from representatives of relevant authorities and experts in water, infrastructure, and water security. The workshop focused on evaluating the findings of the study's first phase, which included an assessment of the water supply infrastructure and the actual needs of GCC member states. Additionally, the technical requirements and data necessary to complete the study were reviewed. Participants emphasized that the study would help in identifying practical options, feasible solutions, and a clear roadmap for joint water interconnection. This initiative aims to strengthen Gulf integration, support responses to emergencies and crises, and ensure the continuity of water supplies across the region.
