Riyadh-- Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, today received Deputy Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Tomas Lamanauskas.
During the meeting, the officials identified the role of the telecommunications field in the GCC countries, including the Ministerial Committees of Communications, cybersecurity, technical committees and working groups concerned with studies. The role of the ITU, its fields in technology, the Internet, and the distribution of radio spectrum were also reviewed during the meeting.
The GCC Secretary General stressed the importance of strengthening means of cooperation between the General Secretariat of the GCC and the ITU and opening new horizons in the fields of information and communications technology and cybersecurity. It was agreed, between the two sides, on the importance of moving forward by launching joint projects in these fields to develop Joint Gulf action in several sectors of interest to the GCC countries.
