GCC Secretary-General Reaffirms Rejection of Israeli Measures to Alter Jerusalem’s Status

Jeddah: Gulf Cooperation Council: GCC Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi strongly condemned the continued incursions by extremist settlers into Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of Israeli occupation forces and the raising of the Israeli flag within its courtyards, stressing that such provocative practices constitute a flagrant violation of international law and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Albudaiwi also reaffirmed the GCC states' categorical rejection of all measures taken by Israeli occupation forces aimed at altering the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its Islamic holy sites, warning that the continuation of such violations would fuel tensions and instability in the region and undermine prospects for peace.

The secretary-general reiterated the GCC countries' full solidarity with the brotherly Palestinian people and their steadfast support for their legitimate rights, foremost among them the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
