GCC Secretary-General Supports UN Security Council’s Denouncement of Houthi Missile Strikes

Riyadh: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi welcomed the statement issued by the members of the United Nations Security Council on August 7, 2026, which condemned the missile attacks launched by the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia since July 13, as well as the attacks targeting commercial vessels since July 22.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Albudaiwi emphasized that the GCC states strongly denounce these Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, viewing them as a violation of the kingdom's sovereignty and a threat to its security and stability. He highlighted that targeting commercial vessels and threatening maritime shipping lanes is an escalation that risks regional security.

Albudaiwi urged the international community to address these attacks, take a firm stance against the Houthi militia, and work swiftly to halt these aggressions. He reiterated the GCC states' solidarity with Saudi Arabia in defending its security and sovereignty, supporting measures to protect the kingdom and its people.
