General Authority of Two Holy Mosques Sponsors MoU for Localizing Shading Systems Manufacturing

Riyadh: In the presence of CEO of the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques Eng. Ghazi Al-Shahrani, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed today to localize the manufacturing of advanced shading systems and retractable awnings with high operational efficiency and quality standards.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the MoU was signed between German Vista GmbH and Al-Babtain Power and Telecommunication. It aims to localize the awning manufacturing industry within the Kingdom through technical cooperation. The agreement will facilitate the transfer of expertise and support the development of national capabilities in this sector.

A fully integrated factory for shading solutions of various sizes is planned in King Abdullah Economic City. The phased manufacturing process is scheduled to begin this year. It aims to achieve economic efficiency through an optimized design and production model. The initiative is expected to reduce costs by 30% to 55%, depending on canopy size and the diversity of shaded areas. Solutions will be tailored to the geometry of each site.

The MoU also supports efforts to increase local content. It seeks to empower national supply chains and enhance private sector participation in high-quality projects, in line with national development objectives.
