Abi Ramia: President Aoun has given up deputy prime minister’s post for benefit of LF
"Strong Lebanon" Parliamentary bloc MP, Simon Abi Ramia, said on Monday that despite the fact that the position of the Deputy Prime Minister is usually the President's share, but President Michel Aoun has given this post up for the benefit of the Lebanese Forces "in a bid to facilitate the birth of the new cabinet."
Interviewed by the local Lebanese news channel OTV, Abi Ramia explained that President Aoun's decision was "an attempt to prove positive intentions towards the LF after Caretaker Minister of Information, Melhem Riachy, had officially requested the position to be the LF's share."
"However, we have not heard any news about the President giving up the Ministry of Justice," the lawmaker added.
"Hariri is listening to the requests of all the political forces and is distributing ministerial portfolios accordingly," he added, stressing the paramount importance of fairness in cabinet representation in accordance with the outcome of parliamentary elections.
