The Higher Education Council (HEC) Board of Trustees today convened and issued a number of edicts related to private universities.
Education Minister, HEC Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, presided over the session, which endorsed the following:
1. Joseph George Jabra takes over as new member of the American University of Bahrain AUBH) board of trustees in place of Dr. Keith Miller.
2. Dr. Shaikha Mai bint Sulaiman Al-Otaibi and Dr. Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa Al Khalifa take over as new members of the Board of Trustees of the Medical University of Bahrain (RCSI).
3. Dr. Rana Abdullah Sawaya Hatem takes over as President of the University College of Bahrain.
4. Dr. Manish Verma, Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University College of Bahrain.
5. Dr. Hatem bin Mahmoud Al-Masry takes over as Vice President of the Applied Science University for Academic Affairs and Development.
6. Mukhtar Al-Sayyed Ali Muhammad Kazem Al-Hashemi takes over as Vice President for Academic Affairs at Al-Ahlia University.
Dr. Juma stressed the HEC board of trustees’ commitment to support higher education institutions to enable them to enhance their performance and achieve their goals.
He affirmed that the Council will continue to exercise its regulatory role on the higher education sector to ensure the integrity and quality of its outputs.
