Manama, Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, has praised the official visits of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the United King, Italy and the Vatican, where he discussed the kingdom's strategic cooperation and relations with them, as well as ways to further strengthen them in all fields, and through the efforts of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Al Musallam asserted that HM the King's keenness to discuss the latest developments in Palestine and the Gaza Strip in light of the Israeli military escalation, the need for immediate halt of all forms of military escalation and the importance of giving priority to ensuring full protection for civilians, as well as opening humanitarian corridors to pave the way for the delivery of medical and relief aid to them confirms the kingdom's principled stance in support of the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people.
It also reflects the far-sighted royal vision regarding the importance of achieving just, lasting and comprehensive peace that would consolidate security, stability and prosperity for the region, he said.
Speaker Al Musallam indicated that HM the King's meetings and talks with His Majesty King Charles III of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Head of the Commonwealth, senior British government officials, His Holiness Pope Francis, the Pope of the Vatican, Sergio Mattarella, the Italian President, and Giorgia Meloni, the Italian Prime Minister, aim to strengthen the kingdom's historical relations with the UK, the Vatican and Italy.
They also support efforts to establish security, stability and peace, which could be achieved through granting the Palestinian people their legitimate rights, by reaching a just solution to the Palestinian cause, based on the two-state solutions in accordance with the Arab Initiative, in a way that ensures the Palestinians their right to establish their independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, he said.
Al Musallam stressed the importance of HM King Hamad's meeting with Pope Francis to discuss joint cooperation in the service of humanity, which will promote the concepts of love and harmony, consolidate global peace and stability and reject violence, the targeting of innocent people and protecting civilians, according to international laws and covenants.
He added that Bahrain and the Vatican share many noble values, noting that the kingdom has launched noble humanitarian initiatives, and hosted global conferences aiming to foster dialogue, mutual respect, tolerance and religious freedom.
He also highlighted Bahrain's pivotal role in disseminating lofty values, given its distinguished status as an oasis of coexistence among the followers of various religions and respect for the other.
