Dammam:The "Hope Ribbon 2026" app, introduced by Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (IAU), has achieved a significant milestone by attracting more than 5,000 female users. The app is designed to promote breast cancer awareness and facilitate early detection by referring users to healthcare facilities for necessary screenings.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the initiative is part of the university's ongoing efforts to enhance health awareness and quality of life through technological innovation. The app provides a comprehensive awareness journey that includes educational modules, risk assessments, and referrals to appropriate healthcare facilities. This ensures that each user receives guidance tailored to their specific needs following a medical assessment.
Dr. Adam Aldhawyan, Head of the Community Partnership Unit at IAU's Academic Medical City, emphasized the app's role in reducing anxiety associated with mammography screening. By incorporating virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies, the app simulates the screening experience, encouraging more women to undergo the procedure. It also includes motivational badges and sharing options to broaden its reach.
Dr. Aldhawyan further noted the app's accessibility across the Eastern Region and other parts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, allowing users to participate in the awareness experience and access referrals at any time and location. The increasing number of users highlights the significance of modern technology in advancing health awareness and facilitating access to early detection services, aligning with the objectives of "Hope Ribbon 2026" to safeguard community health.
