HRH the Crown Prince Chairs Cabinet Session in Riyadh

Riyadh: His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired the Cabinet session held in Riyadh today. The session focused on several pivotal issues, both regional and international, as well as domestic developments and policy decisions.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the Cabinet discussed current regional developments, particularly in the occupied Palestinian territories. The Cabinet welcomed the steps taken in response to US President Donald Trump’s proposal to end the war on Gaza, release all hostages, and immediately begin negotiations to agree on implementation mechanisms. This move aligns with the Kingdom’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region.

The Cabinet reviewed all international meetings hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, affirming its commitment to promoting multilateral dialogue and intensifying joint coordination to serve international peace and security, address global challenges, and support development. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the session, Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary highlighted the Cabinet’s commendation of the recent Munich Security Conference leaders’ meeting in AlUla. The meeting brought together senior international officials and focused on exchanging views on regional developments, global food security, climate and energy issues, and international trade and economic cooperation.

The Cabinet also praised the outcomes of the second regular session of the Council of Arab Cybersecurity Ministers, hosted by the Kingdom. The meeting’s achievements during its first year, including enhanced joint action, cooperation, and solidarity, were recognized as significant contributions to a secure and reliable Arab cyberspace.

Another significant highlight was the fifth Global Cybersecurity Forum, held in Riyadh under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The forum’s initiatives affirmed the Kingdom’s global leadership in cybersecurity, its support for international partnerships, and its commitment to human and societal prosperity.

Furthermore, the Cabinet welcomed Saudi Arabia’s selection to host the UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development in 2029. This selection underscores the Kingdom’s contributions to supporting culture’s developmental role and stimulating innovation and creativity.

On the domestic front, the Cabinet reviewed the preliminary indicators of the 2026 state general budget, emphasizing ongoing support for comprehensive economic growth, development, and social spending. This includes a focus on strengthening the Kingdom’s financial position and ensuring the sustainability of public finances, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

The Cabinet addressed other items on its agenda and issued several decisions, including authorizing the minister of foreign affairs to discuss and sign a memorandum of understanding on political consultations with Thailand, and approving similar agreements in agriculture, health, and statistics with Azerbaijan, Egypt, and Estonia, respectively. Additionally, the establishment of a University of New Haven branch in Riyadh was approved, marking a significant step in enhancing educational opportunities within the Kingdom.
