Madinah: Iftar meals at the Prophet's Mosque reflect a comprehensive organizational system demonstrating a high level of governance and precision in managing banquets for those fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.
According to Saudi Press Agency, when arranged in a straight line, Iftar tables extend approximately 70 kilometers, underscoring the scale of efforts dedicated to serving visitors to the Prophet's Mosque.
The organization of Iftar meals has undergone significant development. Previously, providers were responsible for supplying various food items, including dates, bread, and yogurt. Today, the process is managed through an integrated governance system via the Ehsan and Nusuk platforms, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and streamlined procedures.
The process begins with individuals registering through nonprofit organizations via the website of the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque. Fees are paid through the Ehsan platform, after which donors are credited with the equivalent of one meal package comprising either 25 or 50 meals, depending on preference. Nonprofit organizations may register 10 meals for men and 10 meals for women.
Procedures include selecting the designated location and the number of meals, followed by payment via transfer to Nusuk Humanitarian Foundation. The foundation oversees contractual arrangements between the organizing entity, service provider, or nonprofit organization, finalizes meal preparation, and issues the final permit to ensure service delivery in accordance with established quality and organizational standards.
The system reflects the advanced level of service management in Madinah, contributing to enhanced operational efficiency, strengthening the governance of charitable initiatives, and facilitating the organized and safe provision of Iftar meals for those fasting.
