Independent Human Rights Commission Discusses Enhanced Cooperation with Sudanese Commission

Jeddah: Executive Director of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) Dr. Hadi bin Ali Al-Yami received Assistant Chairperson of Sudan's National Human Rights Commission Bashir Mohammed Bashir in Jeddah. The meeting reviewed prospects for institutional cooperation and the exchange of expertise, as well as the implementation of joint programs and initiatives, particularly in capacity building and training, promoting a human rights culture, preparing studies and reports, and developing monitoring and documentation mechanisms.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Al-Yami affirmed the IPHRC's interest in monitoring the human rights and humanitarian situation in Sudan, supporting the Sudanese commission's efforts, and strengthening its institutional and technical capacities. Meanwhile, Bashir expressed appreciation for the IPHRC's role and expertise in human rights and the Sudanese commission's keenness to enhance cooperation with it.

The two sides agreed to continue coordination and explore the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a framework for joint cooperation, in addition to exchanging visits and expertise and implementing joint programs and initiatives.
