Jeddah: Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Geological Survey (SGS), today inaugurated the first edition of the GEOMIN 2025 Symposium, organized by SGS in cooperation with the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) from October 12 to 14 under the theme ‘Redefining Mineral Exploration’s Potential.’
According to Saudi Press Agency, in his opening address, Alkhorayef stated that this global event marks a significant milestone in the fields of geoscience and mining, coinciding with a major transformation in Saudi Arabia’s mining sector driven by Vision 2030. He highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts to maximize the sector’s contribution to economic diversification and establish it as the third pillar of national industry. The minister also underscored Saudi Arabia’s commitment to building an integrated and sustainable mining ecosystem that supports industrial growth and strengthens global supply chains.
Alkhorayef noted that GEOMIN 2025 serves as an important platform bringing together geologists, researchers, and experts to exchange knowledge and advance the science behind successful mineral discoveries. He praised SGS for hosting and organizing the event, describing it as a scientific and strategic bridge between academia and industry, fostering international collaboration and connecting today’s leadership with tomorrow’s talent.
